Within the context of combating zoonoses and animal diseases, Henk Staghouwer, Dutch Minister of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality paid a working visit to Royal GD on 14 February. GD collaborates closely with the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality and the sector parties in combating animal diseases, in animal health monitoring and in the zoonoses structure. The Minister enjoyed a guided tour of the state-of-the-art laboratory, where staff were pleased to explain the various research methods.

“Cooperation is in our genes,” explains Ynte Schukken, CEO of Royal GD. “We look back with great enthusiasm on the visit by the Minister, during which he expressed great interest in our work. For GD, this was a wonderful opportunity to shine a light on all our hard work in the context of animal diseases and zoonoses, which has kept us occupied for more than a century now.”

In implementing the monitoring system, GD investigates, collates and analyses signals originating from farmers in various livestock sectors (cattle, swine, poultry, sheep and goats), veterinarians, the processing industry, research institutes and public health authorities. Watch the video
